About
Ruby Read is a London based artist whose practice is defined by vibrant, bold impasto oil paintings, both large and small. A graduate of the University of the Arts London with a BA in Fine Art, she is currently deepening her exploration of form, texture and colour while pursuing an MA at the Royal College of Art.
Her signature impasto technique, which evokes the rich, tactile quality of icing, gives her paintings a dimensional and almost sculptural experience. Deeply influenced by the aesthetics of cinematography, the charm of vintage postcards, and powerful iconography, her compositions are full of energy.
