NATURAL SELECTION
Natural Selection brings together 25 intimate portraits of the teachers, dinner ladies, and quiet shapers of the school where Read grew up in Shrewsbury. Each work is painted in oil on panel, measuring just 13cm x 18cm.
The title nods to Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury's most famous son, who was born and raised in the town before developing his theory of evolution. Where Darwin observed the natural world and found meaning in its smallest details, Read turns that same lens inward toward the people who shaped her own formation.
